What GM is
Most software written for shift businesses assumes someone has time to sit at a computer and drive it. On a real floor nobody does. The schedule gets built late, someone calls off an hour before open, and the manager works the shift themselves rather than spend twenty minutes finding cover.
GM is built the other way round. It is a general manager you talk to. Ask it to build next week’s schedule and it drafts one from who is available, who is reliable, and what last week actually cost. When someone calls off, it finds cover and waits for approval rather than for instructions. When a shift is missed, it notices.
Who it’s for
Any storefront with staff on-site: restaurants, retail, gyms, salons, clinics. One location or several. GM is aimed at the owner who is still on the floor and the manager who is running it, which is usually the same small group of people wearing both hats.
How we build it
- Staff shouldn’t need onboarding to be onboarded. An employee can take part entirely by text message — no app to install, no password to remember. The app is there for those who want it, not a requirement for getting paid.
- In their own language. Messages to staff are translated into the language each person chooses, because a schedule nobody can read is not a schedule.
- Collect as little as possible. An operator adds someone with a first name and a mobile number. We do not sell or rent information, we do not profile staff for advertising or background checks, and we do not train models on it. What we do hold is set out plainly in our Privacy Policy.
- Wrong beats late, but late beats silent. Scheduling software fails at the worst possible moment — mid-shift, short-staffed. We would rather miss a message once than send it twice, and we would rather tell you something broke than hide it.
